Horseback rides are beach walks on the Pacific and countryside loops behind Granada. An hour at sunset is the usual product; longer rides go inland or along the sand toward the less crowded beaches. Ask for the helmet, the size of the horse, and whether the price is per person with a guide. Beginners are normal. Say so anyway.

Beach rides north and south of town are the classic, especially toward the longer empty sand in the late afternoon. The horse should walk in the wet sand, not stumble through rock. Ask how long you are actually in the saddle versus driving to the beach. Beginners are expected. A helmet still is not optional in our book, even if a stable shrugs.
