Kayak & SUP in Granada
Kayak and stand-up paddle are the quiet way onto the water: the bay in San Juan del Sur on a calm morning, the islets and lakeshore at Granada, and Laguna de Apoyo when the wind is down. Rentals are usually by the hour. A guided paddle matters if you do not know the boat channels. Wear a vest even if you swim well; afternoon wind on the lake is real.
Paddle the Isletas only if you are comfortable with boat wake, or stay on the quieter edges and on Laguna de Apoyo. Rentals in town may include a transfer to the water. Morning is the paddle; by early afternoon the lake breeze makes a SUP feel bigger than it is. A guide is worth it the first time through the islands.

Questions
Is the lake safe for a SUP?
In the morning, yes, if you stay out of fast boat channels. Afternoon wind is the reason to go back.
Do I need a guide?
For the Isletas, a guide helps the first time. The San Juan del Sur bay is simpler if you stay near shore.
What is included with a rental?
A board or kayak, a paddle, and a vest. Ask about the vest. Transfers to Apoyo or the islets may be extra.
