Clear-water snorkeling here is not a Caribbean postcard. The Pacific is often green and surgy, so the better swims are sheltered beaches on a calm morning, a boat ride to a quieter cove, or the crater lake at Laguna de Apoyo, which is freshwater and still. Diving exists but it is a small scene. Ask about visibility that morning instead of trusting a brochure.
Laguna de Apoyo is the swim that makes sense from Granada: a crater lake, freshwater, no salt, and usually calm enough for a mask. The Isletas are a boat trip first and a swim second; visibility changes with the lake. Do not expect a reef. Dive shops are rare in town. Pair a morning at Apoyo with a boat if you want both.
